I'd rather make a show 100 people need to see, than a show that 1000 people want to see.

Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are.

I have a desire to see them in our culture -- that was not met for most of my childhood. Except occasionally by James Cameron. Next year, Equality Now will celebrate - if that__ the word - will clock its twentieth year. Two decades of fighting the good fight, fighting the cause, and in case I haven__ been the clear, the cause is that one half of the human race is given the same basic equal rights that the other half enjoys.Or, not given. Given back.That is not a milestone, twenty years, that I intend to go unnoticed. I want to make some noise. I want to make a joyful noise, I want to make too much noise. I want the neighbors to complain. I__ tired of being polite about something that matters so much.

Misogyny_ is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who is confronted with it.

Why aren__ you asking a hundred other guys why they don__ write strong women characters? I believe that what I__ doing should not be remarked upon, let alone honoured_ Because equality is not a concept. It__ not something we should be striving for. It__ a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women. And the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. Everything we do really is just a little marker on the long road to death. And sometimes that__ overwhelmingly depressing to me, and sometimes it makes me feel kinship and forgiveness. We__e all got the same ending to the story. The way we make that story more elaborate, I got to respect.

War is not just the business of death, it is the antitheses of life.

Everything I do in its essence is about helplessness. That's the story I want to tell all the time. It's the story I wanted to live - somebody who appears to be, or is, weak becoming stronger.

The thing about a hero, is even when it doesn't look like there's a light at the end of the tunnel, he's going to keep digging, he's going to keep trying to do right and make up for what's gone before, just because that's who he is.

When you__e telling a story, you__e trying to connect to people in a particular way _ The way in which you guys have inhabited this world, this universe, has made you part of it, part of the story. You are living in Firefly. When I see you guys, I don__ think the show is off the air. I don__ think there__ a show; I think that__ what the world is like. _ The story is our lives.

The times are chaotic. For me, I would hope that people look at [Angel] and gain strength by it. With everything that I do, I hope that they see people struggling to live decent, moral lives in a completely chaotic world. They see how hard it is, how often they fail, and how they get up and keep trying. That, to me, is the most important message I'm ever going to tell.
