As participants in a mobile culture, our default is to move. God embraces our broken world, and I have no doubt that God can use our movement for good. But I am convinced that we lose something essential to our existence as creatures if we do not recognize our fundamental need for stability. Trees can be transplanted, often with magnificent results. But their default is to stay.

The price of stability is unpreparedness.

God judges men from the inside out; men judge men from the outside in. Perhaps to God, an extreme mental patient is doing quite well in going a month without murder, for he fought his chemical imbalance and succeeded; oppositely, perhaps the healthy, able and stable man who has never murdered in his life yet went a lifetime consciously, willingly never loving anyone but himself may then be subject to harsher judgment than the extreme mental patient. It might be so that God will stand for the weak and question the strong.

The length of the fall is dictated by how far we had climbed. The outcome of the fall is dictated by whether we__e holding on to that which we__e climbing, or we__e letting God hold onto us.

Change doesn__ always mean instability, you know. Being dormant? Now that__ crippling, much worse than change.

You__e young, and like anything new. It__ change you want. I__ middle-aged, and there__ nothing staler to me than change. Constant comfort and little luxuries as regular as the clock are fresher than change.

The Amish are islands of sanity in a whirlpool of change.

To evade insanity and depression, we unconsciously limit the number of people toward whom we are sincerely sympathetic.

And it hit me like a ton of bricks - that people will put you on a pedestalto only later pull it from under you. Stability.

We will never know peace and stability in the world without balance. And we will never know balance without justice for all. Yet, justice exists only where there is fairness and equality -- when every man and country is treated and viewed equally. No country should be given power over another. In addition, no country should be granted privileges that are denied to others. No one country has the authority to decide which country will be embargoed, denied to protect itself, and will be favored based on the weight of their resources. Eliminate the hypocrisy.

We start a relationship with someone not only because of how great they are but how great they make us feel. They who reach down into the depths of life where, in the stillness, the voice of God is heard, have the stabilizing power which carries them poised and serene through the hurricane of difficulties.

Why is it that none of the things I construct ever make me feel safe? The answer lies in the fact that safety can__ be created. It can only be found. And the only thing I've found that__ never been created is God.

Choosing a life of safety is safely choosing something other than life.
