War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want.

I'm not going to say I was opposed to the Vietnam War. I'm going to say I'm opposed to war. But I'm also opposed to protests that deny other people their rights.

So my humor, I'd say, comes from a mixture of lowbrow comedy shows and highbrow theater. It's an interesting mix.

It's amazing how these little guys can say things that a mortal human could never get away with. There's some sort of unspoken license... when outlandish things come out of an inanimate object, somehow it equals humor.

It's easier to sit there and say you don't like feminists because they don't have a sense of humor.

Dreams say what they mean, but they don't say it in daytime language.

As I've grown - dare I say it - older, I had hopes of indulging my dreams of being a sailor.

People want to hear what I have to say and respect what I say.

Although I don't examine myself in this respect, I would say, off the top of my head, that I've come to acknowledge my Czechness more as I get older.

If one seeks to analyze experiences and reactions to the first postwar years, I hope one may say without being accused of bias that it is easier for the victor than for the vanquished to advocate peace.

I hope people will say, 'Mr. Valentino, he did something for fashion, no?'

I don't care what other critics say, I only hope to be played.

Editorial pages all say, 'Well, the other guy has a point, too. It remains to be seen how this will come out. We certainly hope it comes out fine; blah, blah.' Cartoonists don't go that way. Our job is to stick out our tongues, to show a big raspberry to whatever pompous jerk happens to be mouthing off.

A lot of presidential memoirs, they say, are dull and self-serving. I hope mine is interesting and self-serving.

So I would say God hates war, but God loves every soldier.

The whole thing about 'The Rover' is the whole swagger of it, the whole guitar attitude swagger. I'm afraid I've got to say it, but it's the sort of thing that is so apparent when you hear 'Rumble' by Link Wray - it's just total attitude, isn't it?

I cannot say that the attitude of the United Nations always is for the Israeli attitude. Israel, I think, has been under severe attacks by members of the United Nations many times.
