There are people who have money and people who are rich.

Morals are like social classes, there are poor and rich people.

The rest is just slow diminution and loss. A waning of the full and effulgent moon of my youth. Not that the bright light of my youth was anything to be proud of. I was a terrible person. I did unkind and sometimes illegal things. I treated women abominably. The remembrance of it causes me to flush with shame and to feel a tightening in my groin.It was a radiance without warmth, and I thought of nothing but myself in the brightness of the light. Now I try never to think of myself. The fractious children, raucous at the holidays, with their tattoos you asked them not to get and their lacrosse sticks they play with in the house, stringing and restringing them, the trips to Paris to stay at the Lutetia. Photograph albums of a life that never quite came to be. It doesn__ last long when it comes, but it is vivid, and I am there, not here, not here where I belong. When you lose everything, you don__ die. You just continue in ordinary pants with nothing in your pockets.

Getting rich is not real and staying rich is real.

Rich people don__ have to have a life-and-death relationship with the truth and its questions; they can ignore the truth and still thrive materially. I am not surprised many of them understand literature only as an ornament. Life is an ornament to them, relationships are ornaments, their 'work' is but a flimsy, pretty ornament meant to momentarily thrill and capture attention.

It's better to be remembered for what you said, not what you earned.

Every time the rich ignore the poor, the rich become poorer! Poorest is the person who has all the means to help others but chooses not to!

Remembrance of things past is just for the rich. For the poor it only marks the faint traces on the path to death.

The richest people are those who have an abundance of what we take with us into the next life.

Most people like to be rich, but they don__ know that the rich people are the unhappy bunch. Always marrying at least 3 times, always having drinking or drug problems and always think they are smartest one around, when in fact they can__ name 2 capitals from Europe without a Google search.

Neither every rich person is noble nor miser.Neither every poor person is humble nor wicked.
