For a finite being, an infinite path has no meaning!

To assume that I can even begin to chart a __traight_ path is probably the best way I can take myself __traight_ to the very place I don__ want to go.

Some might ask whether the path is before us or within us. The answer is: Yes. We are both driven from within by our resident spirit and something outside calls forth the genius within us.

Self-correction makes me check the ruler of my life against the yardstick of my inner voice. I acknowledge when I don__ measure up. Self-correction is an ongoing process. If done often enough, I can stop myself from straying off the path.

This_ path is not to be followed through force. It is to be followed through understanding.

Don__ let the agony, regret, or fog of yesterday blind you to the fact that each new day carries with it a plethora of opportunities to move your life into the right direction.

The presence of a path doesn__ necessarily mean the existence of a destination.

CHAPTER VIConcerning New Principalities Which Are Acquired By One's Own Arms And AbilityLET no one be surprised if, in speaking of entirely new principalities as I shall do, I adduce the highest examples both of prince and of state; because men, walking almost always in paths beaten by others, and following by imitation their deeds, are yet unable to keep entirely to the ways of others or attain to the power of those they imitate. A wise man ought always to follow the paths beaten by great men, and to imitate those who have been supreme, so that if his ability does not equal theirs, at least it will savour of it. You have everything inside you, though you sometimes only recognise certain bits relating to the current stage of your path.

Time and space define the sacred moment.

Life is a journey. Choose your journey.

Life is what happens when you're making other plans. So does your résumé. It takes on a life of its own if you let it. Some people try to map out their paths and plan every step, but in reality, life hands you something better. A dead end is really a detour to a new route you hadn't planned on taking. Every experience enhances your life now or later.

But when you're in front of an audience and you make them laugh at a new idea, you're guiding the whole being for the moment. No one is ever more him/herself than when they really laugh. Their defenses are down. It's very Zen-like, that moment. They are completely open, completely themselves when that message hits the brain and the laugh begins. That's when new ideas can be implanted. If a new idea slips in at that moment, it has a chance to grow.

Let each man take the path according to his capacity, understanding and temperament. His true guru will meet him along that path.
