The most devastating thing artists can do to their career is get in their own way, and way too many people do. It__ not the labels, the industry, the fans, the cities, the economy, the social media, the marketing, the promoting, the __ight time,_ the music, or whatever other excuse you can come up with that determines whether you succeed or you fail. It is you__o one else.

The average artist has a naïve, unrealistic, and disconnected view of what the music industry is, how it works, what is involved in __aking it_, and what actually is happening behind the scenes. Too many artists take at face value what they see on some TV documentary or read in a fan magazine. Whether you are working with others in a band, looking to connect with a manager, an agent, a label, or an investor, or you just want to work in the industry, it is more crucial than ever to know what you are working for and toward.

Do not assume that people are seeing you. The more you can clarify, optimize, and engage your fans and strangers with branded marketing and merchandise, the better chance you have of being seen and then heard.

Artists of today can be inspired by the past, but they have to apply present methods if they want a future in music.

Many years later after the sell-outs, betrayals, and hatred which would tear us apart, when our brotherhood had been destroyed, I__ always look back and remember that night. That fucking wild night at the KeyClub, when the smoke stung my eyes but my world was full of nothing but blind hope. When life was not a mockery, but a very real fire which flamed through my veins like the most incredible drug... the night when Kelly-Lee Obann, drunk, high and barely 20 the time, looked out through his hair with a terrible nakedness and said to me; __e__e not gonna make it out of this alive. You know that, right?

It's time to respect yourself and your dream, both truly deserve that respect. be the person you would do anything for. Be the person you will not let down.

The people who blame everything and every body else for their lack of success, tended to continue to have a lack of success. Your Proactive, problem solving minded, assertive and responsible approach is going to carry you much further than whining, blaming, pointing fingers and justifying your failures.

Sure, there are little victories here and there that may seem like lucky breaks, but luck is simply when preparation meets opportunity.

The daily mindfulness, consistency, and discipline is ultimately more important than the amount of time. In other words, it__ more about quality than quantity. If you use 15 minutes effectively, you__l accomplish more than you would be able to with two hours of unfocused, random actions.
