Zombies are familiar characters in philosophical thought experiments. They are like people in every way except they have no internal experience.... If there are enough zombies recruited into our world, I worry about the potential for a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe if people pretend they are not conscious or do not have free will - or that the cloud of online people is a person; if they pretend there is nothing special about the perspective of the individual - then perhaps we have the power to make it so. We might be able to collectively achieve antimagic. Humans are free. We can commmit suicide for the benefit of a Singularity. We can engineer our genes to better support an imaginary hive mind. We can make culture and journalism into second-rate activities and spend centuries remixing the detritus of the 1960s and other eras from before individual creativity went out of fashion. Or we can believe in ourselves. By chance, it might turn out we are real.

Creativity flourishes where there is freedom.

The way to get over creative block is to simply place some constraints on yourself. It seems contradictory, but when it comes to creative work, limitations mean freedom.

Choose to not worry at all, freeing your creative mind and spirit to solve your problems.

Orwell's short and intense life has for years borne witness to some of those verities of which we were already aware. Parties and churches and states cannot be honest, but individuals can. Real books cannot be written by machines or committees. The truth is not always easy to discern, but a lie can and must be called by its right name. And the imagination, like certain wild animals, as Orwell himself once put it, will not breed in captivity. Actually, that last metaphor is beautiful but inaccurate. Even in the most dire conditions, there is a human will to resist coercion. We must believe that even now in North Korea, there are ideas alive inside human brains that were not put there by any authority.

If personal space is vital to creativity, so is freedom from "peer pressure".

Freedom can choke you if you don't know how to handle it.

YOUR WORDS ARE SEEDS. You have the choice to speak life or death. Your words have a nucleus.They can be magnificent co creations with angels, producing mind silk. Or, they can be the polymers of plastic sheets, suffocating the earth one square inch at a time.

Freedom gives room for creativity.

Forgiveness is really about absolution: to set free. But if you look carefully at the dynamic, the one you__e setting free is yourself.

Independence is counterfeit freedom. We think if we can make all our own choices and do our own thing, we will be free. But the opposite is true. By trying to be independent, we are attempting to take God__ place as the ruler of our lives. We can never succeed at creating happiness because we are the created, not the Creator.

As is typical of this God [of Israel], he calls his people into freedom in the most unlikely place.

He laid the foundation of a universal government. His law was one for all. Equal justice and love for everyone.

Self-condemnation means speaking against one's own success. If can't stop confirming your incompetencies for what you are competent for, you are unlikely do pursue your true purpose.

Why would you want to be free of your destiny? Nothing else will satisfy. As for freedom, that's a matter of the heart. Pursue your destiny, and you'll find your freedom along the way.

The number of ways you can live in one lifetime is limitless. So why limit yourself?
