For discipline is imposed not just on oneself but on those in one's orbit.

Because He gave us all, we have what we have; and He calls us "as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)

Among men, it seems, historically at any rate, the processes of coordination and disintegration follow each other with great regularity, and the index of the coordination is the measure of the disintegration which follows. There is no mob like a group of well-drilled soldiers when they have thrown off their discipline. Discipline has enemies, and one of them is you.

If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them, then someday you can do the things you want do when you want to do them.
