There is no such thing as tough love. Love is kind, love is compassionate, love is tender.

Contemplating this suffering which is unbearable to us, and is unbearable to others, too, can produce awake mind, which arises from the compassion that wishes to free all living beings from suffering.

How does one develop compassion for someone with a completely different set of values without reading something from their point of view? Some strive to make themselves great. Others help others see and find their own greatness. It's the latter who really enrich the world we live in

The fact is, it is selfish for a church to not want to grow. A church that says, __e__e got enough people, we__e got a nice fellowship. Our church is just the right size. We just need to focus on the members we already have._ That church is, in reality, actually saying, __he rest of the world can go to hell. We don__ care.

Everything is unfolding based on causes and conditions. Our happiness or suffering is dependent on how we relate to the present moment. If we cling now, we suffer later. If we let go and respond with compassion or friendliness, we create happiness and well-being for the future.

Lead with honesty, total integrity, compassion, patience and tolerance _ toward yourself!

You can't change a regime on the basis of compassion. There's got to be something harder.

It is a strange thing that the human species can only go three days without water and three weeks without food, before the body dies. I suppose if it was the other way around more people would go to school to be morticians because of the booming business, or pastors would have to hand out Valium with the sacrament, just to keep the census high.
