When you can, show them, when they can't teach them and when you do remember the only deed worth doing is the one that helps another up.

Part of knowing how to be prepared comes from being self-aware__eing able to anticipate what you__l need (or screw up) and planning accordingly. I know I am rarely, if ever, the smartest person in the room. And that__ totally OK. What__ not OK is (1) not recognizing that and (2) not coming ready to participate in a meaningful way.

You are either supporting the vision or supporting division

Remember teamwork begins by building trust. And the only way to do that is to overcome our need for invulnerability.

Great teams do not hold back with one another. They are unafraid to air their dirty laundry. They admit their mistakes, their weaknesses, and their concerns without fear of reprisal.

Cohesion is the bane of effective independence.

Stripped to its essence, combat is a series of quick decisions and rather precise actions carried out in concert with ten or twelve other men. In that sense it__ much more like football than, say, like a gang fight. The unit that choreographs their actions best usually wins. They might take casualties, but they win. That choreography__ou lay down fire while I run forward, then I cover you while you move your team up__s so powerful that it can overcome enormous tactical deficits. There is choreography for storming Omaha Beach, for taking out a pillbox bunker, and for surviving an L-shaped ambush at night on the Gatigal. The choreography always requires that each man make decisions based not on what__ best for him, but on what__ best for the group. If everyone does that, most of the group survives. If no one does, most of the group dies. That, in essence, is combat.

Only by binding together as a single force will we remain strong and unconquerable.
