I just don__ understand how you can get so much comfort from a religion whose language does so much harm.__I realized that what troubled me most was her use of the word __omfort,_ so in my reply I addressed that first. I said that I didn__ think it was comfort I was seeking, or comfort that I__ found. Look, I said to her, as a rush of words came to me. As far as I__ concerned, this religion has saved my life, my husband__ life, and our marriage. So it__ not comfort that I__ talking about but salvation.

One of these days some simple soul will pick up the book of God, read it, and believe it. Then the rest of us will be embarrassed.

What is salvation without faith? is likea Christmas tree without a star, is likea kingdom without a king, is likea heart without a beat, is likea light switch that just won't turn on.

Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty.

God does not believe for us, but through His Spirit He creates spiritual life in us so that we can believe. Faith is the gift of God. It's part of the whole salvation package that God gives to us through the work of Christ for us and the work of the Holy Spirit in us. It's not our contribution, so to speak, to God's great plan of salvation. God does it all. It's part of the unsearchable riches of Christ.

It is easy to find religion; it is salvation most seek. After committing to a life of Christ, salvation is lost in those who stray and do not repent. Those who have not committed cannot stray.

Only a "dry as dust" religion prompts a minister to extol the glories of Heaven while ignoring the social conditions that cause men an Earthly hell.
