Media images are so important to young people feeling positive about themselves.

Obviously social media has had a massive impact on the fame game, but not in a positive way. But it can be for some.

We Americans typically are more positive about our individual futures, which we have some control over, than we are the nation's or the world's, which we see largely through the media prism.

I think people are so immersed in the anti-Scientology mindset by consuming tabloid media and stories about space aliens. It's baffling. When I say I want to see a more positive side of the church, all I'm saying is I want to get past these headlines that talk about aliens and Tom Cruise jumping on a sofa.

There are positive things that come of social media as well as negative.

I do not expect the white media to create positive black male images.

With all the media attention, all the love from the fans, I felt I needed to prove myself. Prove that I'm not a marketing tool, I'm not a ploy to improve attendance. Prove I can play in this league. But I've surrendered that to God. I'm not in a battle with what everybody else thinks anymore.

I think we need more young people; we need to elect young people to government. We need to give them a chance, in the media, in politics, in democracy.

The more I come to know about the outside world's perception of China, the more I feel there are all sorts of misunderstandings, and to a certain extent, people do not get the full picture from the media. A lot of foreigners have few opportunities to visit China, and a lot of Chinese people do not have the chance to go to Europe or to the West.

Navigation is power of a limited sort - it enables us to manage the immensity of the media torrent.
